Best trick up the sleeve of YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING is how much is actually left to interpretation, discussion, and the imagination. Was riveted for all three hours. Extraordinary filmmaking as lines between documentary, docudrama, and full-blown “what-if” fantasy are purposefully blurred. Stunning.

But is it really a documentary? That is the question (and likely one of several questions the filmmakers want us to be considering afterward).

We watched Michael Mann's MANHUNTER! Like poor Will Graham, we couldn't do this alone, and recruited @moviefreaksara.bsky.social to help us decipher the color blue!

We should do a brief follow-up to discuss the “Final Cut” version. 😉🥰😂🩷

Great guess, but…

It was. Hoping SIFF does a full 70mm festival again at some point there again soon. Fingers crossed. They’ve done a few one-offs lately, so I’m hopeful.

They showed it in 70mm at the Cinerama like a year before the pandemic. Took friends who had never seen it before. They enjoyed (thankfully), but they couldn’t understand why it brought me to tears. Anyhow, that was a fun night, finally seeing it on the biggest, widest screen possible.

Kinda same. In a (maybe not-so) strange way, it’s a foundational film for my realizing I was Trans. It holds a very special place in my heart.

@moviefreaksara.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 7:34 AM

Look at the production year… 😉

@moviefreaksara.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 7:30 AM

Total agreement.

@moviefreaksara.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 7:30 AM

I need it to get a revival screening at some point. Maybe this is the one I need to show next year for my birthday?

@moviefreaksara.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 7:27 AM

Dang. Now that’s definitely one I wish I could eavesdrop on. So much to dissect.

@moviefreaksara.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 7:17 AM

Nope. But gosh I love that movie. I wish this had been THE TINGLER.

Because we were chatting about Mike Flanagan earlier today, I wanted to share my essay I wrote earlier this year on how both THE LIFE OF CHUCK and JACOB'S LADDER gave us such compelling explorations of dying. I'm really proud of this piece. from-the-desk-of-the-horror-chick.ghost.io/exploring-ja...
