Tonight's #firsttimehorror is "Death Spa". Apparently it's uber 80's kitsch that is so bad that it's good. We'll see how that works out.

Opera lives up to it's name in that style and bombast supercedes trivial concerns like plotting and logic. Nobody here acts like a normal human being or even thinks to call the police. But it doesn't really matter thanks to the gorgeous POV camerawork and delirious style and tone.
I was hoping for a supernatural dream sequence freakout but Spielberg's alimony payments must have dried up.
A legacy sequel? If they bagged a cameo from Sissy Spacek, then I'm in. Nostalgia does work, damnit.
More evidence in the "Cethan is cool" colum. I was shocked to see how many stabs at the material there has been, Hollywood creative bankruptcy aside. The version with Chloë Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore is one those movies that seems not to have really happened.
I'm not a fan of the social media groupthink that faithfulness to source material is important. Although I appreciate that as a writer, you may disagree. Funnily enough, it seems that Prime tends to buys the rights to a novel and disregards the plot. Their Scarpetta show been a case in point.
My next #firstimehorror is Dario Argento's "Opera". Between this and "Suspiria", the man was quite the champion of the preforming arts.
That seems to be Flannigan's thing. The man had the balls to make a sequel to Kubrick so I suppose that trailing after DePalma is easy after that.
No DePalma, no point.
"The Bone Temple" is the clear highlight of my belated Halloween warm up watches. Thanks to Ralph Fiennes deeply humanist character and performance, it's my favourite entry in the "28 Units of Time" franchise. #lastfourwatched
I did find it interesting that the evil Brits in RRR were played by and Irish woman and a Brit with an Irish mother. It was an interesting allusion to our role in the colonising of India. Something that is glossed over here. As for Doody, she and Brosnan were an improbably gorgeous couple in Taffin.
28 Years Later - The Bone Temple is quite the humanistic horror with Ralph Fiennes decent doctor clashing with Jack O'Connell's santic bastard. It's a damn fine movie with a rocking Iron Maiden scene.
28 Years Later - The Bone Temple. Ralph Fiennes headlining a post-apocalyptic movie sounds like a classy way for civilization to end. #firsttimehorror
I honestly don't know how to respond to that.
Brian Trenchard-Smith directed some fine Ozploitation b-movies. This is not one of them.
Both sides Tom. You know it to be true.
It's possible that Iñárritu is pushing me towards Euroscepticism.
Apparently there is a barnstorming scene involving the EU Parliament so how could you not be riveted to the screen?
I respect that Tom.
I can see why. As you know, the Germans love physical media but the ugly blue ratings stamp on their cases is a turnoff. It's a bummer.
