This dovetails with what we found in our #Menopause research. “Autistic women reported the greatest sleep difficulties.” Thanks Sophie and team for citing us twice.

One understated part of the Trump administration is just how much the vibes in the city suck. DOGE significantly harmed the city's economy, National Guard troops patrol the city and Trump's rebranding of the Kennedy Center and reflecting pool make tourist sites feel so different.

"Podemos ayudar a los padres de niños recientemente diagnosticados con autismo a tomar decisiones cuidadosas y maximizar recursos limitados. Podemos prevenirlos de llevar a sus hijos a viajes costosos y emocionalmente impulsados hacia ninguna parte."

When it comes to autism “treatments” for children, we endorse healthy skepticism.

Does an approach make sense, or do you just really, really want to believe it will help? Are there real risks and only possible benefits?

Screen time itself is not necessarily bad for kids, new research indicates. But we need MORE research to understand "how, when, & for whom different types of screen use become problematic or helpful," & how positive aspects can be used to support healthy development.

Autistic children are more likely to experience problems with anxiety than non-autistic kids, which can have lasting effects on their well-being and development. Researchers talked to autistic kids themselves, who said that "Being understood is the safest path."

I've described our family as having "incompatible autism." I want people to be direct; my husband does it, but our son can't not beat around the bush. I have a special interest in food and cooking; kid has sensory no-no's and dad does a lot of samefood. Kid needs noise, dad needs quiet. It's hard.

As you may have noticed or experienced personally, autism accommodations can be tricky: "There is so much diversity in autism that […] what might be sensory soothing for one person might be a sensory trigger to another." @drlouisalyman.bsky.social has insights:

Fantastic explanations by @rosebroderick.bsky.social on major federal rollbacks of landmark disability protections such as Section 504, as well as broader trends in federal disability rights. So much outright cruelty enacted by total putzes. Audio with full transcript:
