Marble Hill isn't a one-off. By The Intercept's count, Thursday's victim is at least the 25th person shot by federal immigration agents this year. In January, agents shot and killed two U.S. citizens, Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, in Minneapolis.
Then the doors closed. Rep. Adriano Espaillat went to the hospital and says ICE agents wouldn't let him in. Mayor Mamdani says he spent two hours on the phone with Trump and DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin, and then ICE put the wounded man in an unmarked vehicle.
DHS put out its own account. An officer "discharged his weapon," it says, and officers "immediately rendered aid," with the FBI and HSI now investigating. The statement never mentions the five-year-old in the back seat, and it gives no account of why the officer fired.
That vest matters. A neighbor told The Intercept the man in it seemed to be posing as a construction worker, then took it off afterward and put it in a vehicle. In July, ICE ordered a new dress code for field operations after plainclothes agents botched an arrest in Las Vegas.
It wasn't one shot. According to evidence collected at the scene, at least one agent fired seven rounds, hitting the driver in the neck. A neighbor's photos show agents in plain clothes and tactical vests, and one man in a high-visibility vest holding an assault rifle.
An ICE officer fired into a car in upper Manhattan on Thursday, just after 4 p.m., as a nearby school was letting out. A five-year-old boy was in the back seat. According to the mayor, he was physically unharmed, on a street crowded with families and children.
How beta can this guy get to make his pregnant wife move over for this eternal loser Jake Small?
Jan. 16: Trump "greatly respects" Iran for cancelling 800 hangings. Oct. 8: Hegseth says the Pentagon will livestream a firing squad. "We'll make sure people are able to watch it." Last U.S. public execution: 1936. Iran still does them. Now he's selling tickets to a firing squad.

Jared Kushner left the Trump White House and started an investment firm. Then Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund committed $2 billion to it. The $2 billion wasn’t a paycheck. But the reported management fee? About $25 million a year to Kushner’s firm.
San Diego's mayor answered in one line: "We are not expendable." The White House didn't respond when asked about it. Follow @saveamericamvmt.bsky.social for more.
The crowd cheered. That part is on the tape too. Applause in Nebraska for the idea of a strike on California's two largest cities, roughly 5 million people inside the city limits, plus the Navy's largest West Coast base in San Diego.
The price he was defending was what you pay at the pump. He called the war's cost "a little bit high," said it was worth it to keep the country safe, and then reached for two American cities as his example of a cost worth eating.
"They can take out a city. Let 'em take out Los Angeles, let 'em take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." That is Donald Trump, Monday night in Grand Island, Nebraska, talking about the Iran war.
"Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay." Trump, Oct. 5, Grand Island, Neb. The crowd cheered. Not a slip. He's been waving off your losses since April.
Trump is about to spend 32 days campaigning to explain the economy to people who buy gas.

A better speech doesn't fix this. AAA says regular gas is up almost 50% since the Iran war began in late February, and diesel set a national record above $6.50 in September. Nobody at a pump is waiting to be told what it costs.
Voters aren't confused about the economy. The Conference Board's confidence index fell to 81.9 in September, the lowest since April 2014. In the new AP-NORC poll, 26% call the economy good and 73% disapprove of how Trump is handling it.
