What are some horror movies where a misogynist is cathartically killed, but where we aren’t forced to watch him commit prolonged/visceral acts of violence against women first? Something like the Anna Paquin sequence in TRICK ‘R TREAT, as opposed to I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE?

this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

I feel attacked, but at least I feel seen.

Thank you!

I find many critics these days think about those first two questions, but feel like it’s not their place to ask the third. But that’s the line, isn’t it? That’s where you’re able to recognize that the worst movies can look, at least superficially, like they’re the best.

Apparently it’s okay if the film has one, and only one remake. The sequel is also, by its very odd nature, a remake, so I think it’s got a shot.

I avoid writing lavish praise so that when I do make a big statement, it will mean actually something. WILDWOOD is the type of film I reserve my huge compliments for. I was literally - I mean, LITERALLY literally - slackjawed watching large portions of this movie. It’s a rare, genuine achievement.

Travis Knight’s WILDWOOD is such an astounding achievement in stop-motion that even if the story sucked, it would be a “must see.”

But the story is wonderful (if a little archetypal), so the effort it took to produce this masterpiece was wholly justified.

My review is at @thewrap.com!

My Fellow Critics: What was the last time you *dramatically* changed your mind about a movie? It could be a film you liked or loved at first, but you dislike or hate now, or a film you disliked or hated the first time, but now you like or love it.

People need to get it into their heads that it’s possible understand exactly what an artist was doing and still think they did it badly.

Unrelated, but remember when James Cameron said he lied when he said TERMINATOR GENISYS was a great movie and was just doing a favor for Arnold Schwarzenegger?

What if the remake has a sequel, e.g. Terror Train?
