Ah yes
I’m about to go offline but the issue is really imo whether taking down data centers has disproportionate impact on civilian population - maybe interfering with all sorts of critical infrastructure. That’s the debate I think. As a legal matter.
Ah
just wait for the oligarchs to start talking about a new Geneva convention to protect data centers. suddenly they’ll be really into intl law. lol. but also not lol.
When I was setting up my Samsung TV and being the one weirdo who actually manually switches off the hundreds of adtech surveillance vendors pre-set to "on" for both consent and LI, I noticed Yandex set trackers on the TV with a 10 year lifespan. RU could locate the UA diaspora, to the house address.
musk and all the AI oligarchs see the future now.
again, we’re not regulating. we’re not doing even the basic due diligence to determine the impact of AI across all areas of public life incl war. the real near term risk to human life is here, not in some runaway agents and misalignment (which are bad too).

they’re building systems that commingle everything. so even if legit target the impact on civilians will be huge. it’s a disaster in the making.
in the sense that taking out a military objective may have huge impacts on civilian populations. not in sense of responding to Russian attacks.
As *everything* becomes powered by AI, where do we even begin in distinguishing mil and non-mil uses of data centers. The commingling is a looming catastrophe.
Proportionality is the weakest link to be sure.
I expect some interesting debates over the targeting of data centers like Yandex under IHL. More broadly, to extent AI is used to power drone/missile targeting/dvpt, the argument that their data centers are legit military objectives rises. Not a slam dunk but arguable no?
Unbrexit means unbrexit
this is the Elvis of my 18th year
seen Elvis live maybe 20 times but the truth is that I don’t listen to much beyond all this useless beauty. Still I maintain that imperial bedroom is the greatest of pop albums.
18 and beyond
No, bombing Yandex has not impacted automated Russian trolling operations in the U.S.
came out blurry, but a colleague who lives in Kiev showed me the missile/drone warning notifications people have on their phones. this is life under putin’s unceasing aggression.
