More proof that everyone on Bluesky is a late 40s Oxford graduate

@katrinanavickas.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 6:55 PM

Again, has there been an academic article on this? Otherwise, it's going into my chapter on parking, in the Bins, Parking, Toilets book.

I can see an academic research project in this if it hasn't been done already: "Migration, class, family business and identity: the micro and macro geographies of the Oxford kebab vans."

Boss man knows no class divide

@katrinanavickas.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 6:13 PM

St John's loyalty is to Houssain

@katrinanavickas.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 6:12 PM

Amazing.

One of the reassuring continuities of Oxford is that the same 'bab vans are still serving undergrads. Generational businesses one would hope. Big queue at Houssain's on St Giles this evening.

Taking the scenic route as the motorway is shut

X90 RIP. I will have to do the night coach back to Oxford after going to see Angine de Poitrine in a week.

@katrinanavickas.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:38 PM

I thankfully don't get travel sick, so I prefer to be guaranteed of a comfy seat and working toilet and to do a couple of hours' work on the coach.

This is my life now

That massive queue for the yoghurt place in Notting Hill is still there. Maybe the people at the front are the same ones who were at the back when I went past on Friday evening, and they've queued all weekend

Just passing Tyburn on the bus now

@katrinanavickas.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 2:14 PM

The processions to Tyburn gallows were stopped in the 1780s and executions moved to Newgate prison, in part because policing the massive crowds became deemed too dangerous after the Gordon Riots.

I'm currently working on a campaign to have welfare statements integral to funding applications, confirming: * how many hours the work took * how much was spent on it * how people were treated and wellbeing supported * how overwork, bullying etc was mitigated * what opportunities led from the bid /2

In 2012-13, there were 51 UK universities offering Russian and East European Studies. In 2024-25, there were 32, and provision is shrinking further.

Perhaps that's a serious security risk? www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk/policy-and-r...

Something to do with creditors and assets no doubt

I never understand why, other than the rent, they haven't moved. It's like going through an apocalyptic video game to find the shop now.
