Authoritarian regime grabs electronic communication devices of prominent opposition member. Since it’s highly unlikely there is anything on her phone about immigration paperwork from 30 years ago we can assume this just became a fishing expedition.

I've been really excited about this one, it looks rad as hell. Not sure when I'll get the chance to play it but I intend to.

Hey executives, you can just set your asses on fire and roll around in public screaming in pain while a conveyor belt feeds millions of dollars into an industrial shredder. It would be more dignified.

WASHINGTON—Trump’s federal agents raid Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home over decades-old “immigration paperwork” her father filled out when she was a kid. No charges. Breaking DOJ norms. Over the cliff, folks.

🧵 Attention, Fellow SFF Artists and Authors -- here is my response to Must Read Magazines, after they presented an Asimov's art contract expecting me to waive all Moral Rights and Copyright to my art. And, I would strongly advise the following to my fellow pros…. 1/

John Picacio’s response to Must Read Magazine’s request for his waiver of all Moral Rights and Copyright of his commissioned art for an ASIMOV’S assignment. Short version — Picacio says a resounding NOPE.

Trump and his allies have spent most of the past decade doing the administrative equivalent of ripping bundles of wiring out of the walls. When everything's trundling along, you don't necessarily notice the missing wiring. When something goes very wrong, suddenly the damage becomes apparent.

Hell yes, that gift shop ruled. I got a copy of West End's BATTLE FOR HOTH game there in 1990.

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

When Trump posted a video of the Obamas as apes the NYT claimed "it was unclear if Mr. Trump was aware" that he posted it

NYT: "It was unclear if Mr. Trump was aware that the clip had been included in the video before he shared it."

Malcolm was my boss for seventeen years and a very good friend for every one of those years. He scaled the heights of mainstream publishing but was always a tireless advocate for, and fan of, SFF. He was constant, gracious, very funny and a brilliant publisher. The genre owes him so much. Go well.

God dammit... Matt Howarth was amazing, an impossibly eclectic writer/artist. I love the Post Bros, Keif Llama, Konny and Czu, as well as his illustrations for the Dune Encyclopedia and Dr. Adder. We have lost a prime weirdo much too soon. The great Malcolm Edwards, too. Come on, universe.

Not to be That Guy just because I'm married to Elizabeth Bear, but your first figure is correct (the asteroid in the book is described as "ten hundred tonnes") and your second is not; even though the relevant mass is only 500,000 kilos that's not an 11-kiloton plinker, it's a multi-megaton event.

I have a new novella out in the 20th Anniversary edition of Clarkesworld this month!

"The Job" is about a woman with serious self-image issues who takes a contract to survey an alien ocean for corporate exploitation, wearing the body of a bioengineered whale.

I also absolutely love the direct follow-up short story, "One for the Road." Moving to New England only made me appreciate it and the novel even more.
