Instead of worrying about worldbuilding in opening chapters, focus on developing the character so that we have something to hold onto. Then let us discover the world around them as they move through it.

I have over 200 ARC readers on my picture book releasing this month. I have 143 preorders on my Adult horror also releasing this month. It feels good to have new projects publishing. It's been too long.

Stop being so hard on yourself.

I've been seeing a lot of manuscripts lately with dialogue that is *too* formal. Unnaturally formal or overly polished. Spend a day or two listening closely to how people speak to you throughout the day and see how that ends up changing your character's voices and dialogue.

Give me your unhinged WIP working title. Not the real manuscript title...the document name.

One of my favorite editing tricks: 1. Open your Google Doc. 2. Edit ➡️ Find and Replace 3. In the Find box, paste: \bwas\s\w+ing\b 4. Check all the boxes was watching ➡️ watched was smiling ➡️ smiled

If you can delete a character and nothing changes, delete the character.
