Re(ugh)skeeting because I've been thinking about this a lot. About where I get my news from, and what's excluded from my minimal attempts to keep up with the news. I check on social media, on american Late Night talk shows, and skimming the Guardian because a friend That One Time said it's great.

I LOVE Indian journalists. They are the realest. Laughing, talking shit, filming all while at least 5 male cops shove a woman bodily into a bus. FEARLESS. And not self important. They know they aren’t valued. Best education of my life was as a city beat reporter there in my 20s.

One thing that strikes you with the concurrent protests in India & France is the elaborate deployment of state machinery (police/military/army personnel). Whilst France uses lethal weapons, Indian police controls w/ batons. Oh and Pakistani Gen Z sending love to their Indian friends is everything.
