Well at this point we're talking past each other. I do appreciate your clarifying your numbers. I think the basic inequities and race-based disparities of student performance are rooted in poverty which I see as driven by the mass transfer of wealth upward. I don't think just schools can solve that.

Schools serving very poor families have conflicting goals - challenge well-prepared students AND improve poorly performing students (often in the same crowded classes). Addressing educational & behavioral issues in such schools requires far more staff - which costs a lot. That's been my experience.

Her point is not this or that school. It's the whole system. If you have a very selective school only taking high achievers, those students will perform at lower overall costs. I'd agree that money ONLY for schools won't do it if families can't thrive on regular 1 or 2 full-time salaries.

And it's in Brooklyn (with exorbitant costs of living). And the Billionaire/War class siphoning money up into their pockets & away from productive workers creates broad social conditions that immiserate entire communities like where I live and worked in public schools. So yeah, it's the kleptocracy
