The Sounders, waking up after winning their 4th straight

After LAFC’s 1-1 tie with the Whitecaps, the Sounders will close out the weekend one point out of sixth with a game in hand.

Schmetzer on the play of Snyder Brunell as a ‘pocket winger’: “Snyder showed that he can play. And Snyder's a young kid who has really big upside, and so you know how that ends up at the end of the year, I don't know. He's put himself in the conversation to be a starter for sure.”

Schmetzer was very pleased with the play of just about everyone. “Credit to Craig [Waibel], he's done a good job, and it showed tonight.”

Schmetzer cont: “You can feel when the team is going in a good direction, but the job's not done.”

Asked if Sounders should be considered contenders, Schmetzer wants to pump brakes a little. “It's still early. Let's just get through Dallas. Let's get through Montreal. … But you are correct. Nobody's going to want to play us in the playoffs because we have the potential.”

Schmetzer calls out the significant contingent of Sounders fans in the stands. “They were singing loud after Jesus and Paul scored the third goal. I loved it. It was awesome.”

Schmetzer calls this “a statement win.” Notes that Revs are second in East. “We came into their building, and it wasn't just a smash and grab. It wasn't like ‘oh we got fortunate.’ We outplayed them. That's a good team, well coached team. We came in here, did what we wanted to do, had to suffer.”

Galaxy were fastest to 100, but in large part because a lot of those were played when there were no ties.

Schmetzer noted that both Roldan and Dotson had to play with yellows and they had discussed taking at least one of them off. But they left them in. “Those are two experienced players and they were able to manage the game and still be really effective.”

Schmetzer on the Dotson-Roldan double pivot: “He and Cristian are kind of figuring out how they want to play in combination and as a pair. I thought that was exceptionally strong performance by both.”

Schmetzer says Morris got “dinged up pretty bad” and that his hip was bothering him, but no new injuries. Sounds like everyone is fine.

Notably, Brian Schmetzer has been sipping a Sam Adams during his postgame presser.

This was the Sounders’ 100th MLS road win. That’s the most of any team since they entered league in 2009, but not the fastest of all time as Schmetzer stated.
