How is does this apply to me as a gamer? Because I loved the hell out of that project and after it launched I had to contend with that bullshit at home without dev tools :P The whole experience felt like that toe stubbing meme that's been going around. We patched it in like two weeks though lol

Most of the QA team (and others) flared before launch that players were going to hate these things, and the response from (otherwise fantastic) higher ups was essentially "we'll see." Still probably my favorite game I ever worked on and team I ever worked with, but when the title launched... oh boy.

Working on a certain AAA game in a certain niche genre with a certain reputation for being inaccessible for non-sweaty players. We had this one modifier in the single player content that would spawn homing missiles that were a nightmare to avoid and could stunlock you with multiple hits.
