To get my blacks like in this piece (it is still available), I use layers of indigo, Prussian blue & Egyptian Violet. Not only does it avoid mud, the layers give a real feeling of depth to something that could easily feel very flat.
Yup, self done by a rank amateur would beat that. And it occurs to me that if anyone thought the slop version did look tasty, they'd be disappointed by the nice food!

It's not effing rocket science... If you make nice things to eat, photograph them. If not, fix the food THEN photograph them.

In some areas I think it's a key distinction - In CGI good subject knowledge will get you there slowly, (at least in my case), but the speed with which a pro can make a movie quality model is in a completely different league.
I can't work out what nodes I need to apply a colour gradient with the moving noise. Any Lightwavers have any ideas?
