Ex-broadcaster and data-wrangler … copyright, infrared and Elektra Records fan … archiving my past … music collection not as big as it was … the odd photo … and with a disobedient memory.

I just watched a video of myself doing a presentation. ‘Who is that really old bloke with a croaky voice’ I thought. Oh dear! So it goes.

I recently got an email from a supposed AI offering me an answer to a question I posed on my web site. It was correct … but somewhat spooky.

Something to aspire to!

Intrepid photographer as well.

Reminds me of the last words of a famous grammarian, whose name escapes me: I die I am dying Either is acceptable

That was a Paul Simon song wasn’t it? You can call me AI? (Fontish pun!)

To quote that great academic thinker, Indiana Jones, ‘I have a bad feeling about this’.

Supercharge were pretty good live too. (No Nine Below Zero however!)

Sorry at what point do the government feel the need to do something about BBC funding, or are they just going to watch it be salami-sliced to extinction?

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 10:01 PM

OK, but I only have stills and the DV movie copied from tapes made at KW at the same time as the Digi-Betas. I’ll reply to your email tomorrow. Cheers.

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 4:37 PM

This might be the PNG stills, which I have, rather than a video.

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 4:14 PM

I have no clue where in the chain the bars were introduced. D3 possibly. I’ll leave it with you. Glad you’re on the case.

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 4:01 PM

Alex Mansfield from Domesday Reloaded … @stuffandpiffle.bsky.social … may know. IIRC an engineer named Pete(?) grabbed frames from them and sent them to you and me. Sorry I don’t have the details to hand. I only ever had PNGs, never video. The video I had was DV.

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 3:25 PM

That looks good. I only have DV video and never had the Digi-Beta. The DV doesn’t have enough chroma resolution to show Hannover bars. I do have the PNGs from the Digital-Beta but they have the bars.

I plan to have a go when I get myself organised. It’ll be interesting to see, if I can, how de-hannovered maps and gallery compare with the DV frames. Let’s touch base by email if there’s progress.

@delverie.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 10:41 AM

That’s basically my plan. I have those PNGs somewhere on a disc.
