I maintain that the joke you do with a "frozen in the late-90s guy" - in an Austin Powers reboot context or not - is to make them have prepared for HUGE future adjustments and instead be confused + upset by how the world has mostly only changed in small and annoying ways.
In 7 months time, the world will officially cross the Austin Threshold - the point where the number of years since the release of the original "AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY" will equal and begin to exceed the number of years Austin Powers was frozen in the film (1967-1997) π³
And I find this particular pushback against a version of Stephen King's stories being connected cinematically extra weird with everyone clamoring for a Dark Tower series. Just sayin'. π
It's actually legitimately annoying to have to keep reminding people this, tbh. We had this same exact conversation last year when Welcome to Derry featured Hallorann. π
I don't know who needs to hear this, but: Stephen King's books are largely already in a connected universe. I know the MCU broke yall's brains when it comes to Cinematic Universes, but fans of the books have enjoyed his interconnected worlds for decades. π€·
Which #Disney #StarWars Project Has Been The Most Culturally Impactful? β¨π¬π§
#Lucasfilm #TheForceAwakens #RogueOne #TheMandalorian #TheLastJedi #TheRiseOfSkywalker #SoloAStarWarsStory #StarWarsFans #Andor
I'm not Travis Knight i'd probably just be funding other peoples stuff and be like "Do whatever i don't care i got money to burn."
Oh yeah, he totally using his nepo money for good.
Which is weird considering I always get the sense Lucasfilm REALLY likes Rogue One in terms of its original line of movie projects.

Yeeeeah I blame the Prequels for this only cuz it created a large Anti-Jedi sentiment. Like we legit got people who think the Jedi deserved to get Order 66'd
Basically George thought process was "I wanna be done and im getting divorced"
The Luke and Leia being brother and sister one was basically Geroge being A.) Done with Star Wars and B.) He wanted to tie up ALL lose ends so the "There is another" was basiaclly "welp who among the established cast should i pick" and Leia was there
See I think Palpatine is more interesting then Kenobi imo
