+1. When I was at NEH, I often made the same wissenschaft argument. I used to do a slide presentation making the case for holistic research funding across disciplines, & using other countries, like Germany, as a model.

Thanks for posting this -- great interview! I saw RFTT on that tour and they were great. (By the way, I don't think Johnny Madansky (no "n") dropped out of sight; he changed his name to Johnny Blitz and was the Dead Boys' drummer.)

Aw, I'm bummed to hear this news. Seen him play live a couple of times, both with Dead Boys and Rocket from the Tombs. His autobiography was pretty great too.
