I know two words in French and they're both here
They’re actually hands-on exhibits! For mine, you build structures and then cause an earthquake to see how the buildings do, and then make changes to improve the design.
Hey look! 👀
Aisha and I are in a museum in North Dakota!

There was a M7 in 1943, but that was offshore to the south and at least 100 km from today’s event.
For more information read our article in @theconversation.com from last month. theconversation.com/are-earthqua...
This earthquake in Panama is the 12th earthquake of magnitude 7 or greater this year. Is this an unusual number of large quakes? No. This graph shows M7+ earthquakes over the last 30 years. This year is very average.
It’s on land so a tsunami is unlikely.
Early information from USGS PAGER suggests that more than 30,000 people may have been exposed to severe shaking, and more than 1 million people may have experienced strong to very strong shaking.
The earthquake that caused that disaster was a M9.1
And the magnitude is M7.6 and the depth has been updated to ~10km
Oh crap.
M 8.0 earthquake 14 km SW of Pitaloza Arriba, Panama. 33 km deep.
Exact location and magnitude may change as we get more data
Different backgrounds, different expertise, but one shared mission: help make Californians safer from earthquakes.

Already 2/3 sold! BUT… some of my favorites from this batch still remain including the very first 1 of 1 Mammoth XL prototype with the view from town on the back side. Also really love the green and pink!
Use code GSA26 to get 10% off through Saturday (if they last that long).
