I adore Lhasa Apsos, but they can be very self-absorbed. Legend says that Lhasas are Buddhist monks between lives, so the cycle of birth, death, & rebirth isn’t a big deal. To my dog, Lucy, grandma was about to transform into a beautiful dog—not a Lhasa because my mom wasn’t enlightened (Bodhi). 🪷

The nurse said that “animals know.” So I lifted her on the bed. She walked over my mom and greeted the nurse. Fortunately, she was a 20 pound Lhasa Apso and not a Great Dane… LOL

A real quote or not… it depends on the dog. My mom was actively dying in a bed in my living room. I was on one side of the bed & the hospice nurse was on the other. My dog acted like she wanted to get on the bed.

Though hard to believe, Tom Cotton is right. Permanent Standard Time is the healthiest choice. DST is counter to our circadian rhythms. We are wired to be wakeful during daylight and sleep in the dark. A permanently jet-lagged populace is only good for retailers.

We had friends who had two daughters and a GSD. Youngest (~8 yo) went into their backyard pool alone. She wasn’t supposed to do that. The dog pulled her out of the pool — he grabbed her by the hair and pulled. Scared the kid, but she wasn’t injured; the parents thought he was protecting her.
