Indeed. Corporate espionage is a criminal offence so I dont understand why it isn't being pursued here. Ditto, individuals within organisations can be personally liable for users/employees deaths in the UK at least - do they not have that over there?

I bought all my off to uni stuff in 1997 from the Poundland and Yorkshire Trading co. on Melton high street. Still have the blue glass crockery (Poundland) and towels and suitcases (YTC). The kettle and cutlery died a while ago though.

Ah. That would explain why they're wet. As someone who gets a full body disgust reaction to olives I generally delete them from my consciousness.

What is a picky bit? Why is being illustrated with apples when next to what looks like hummus and tsatziki?

It's not "apolitical" or "heterodox truth seeking" or "free inquiry" to quietly sit back and let your field air the same racist and eugenic pseudoscientific bullshit that these clowns have been chasing for 150ish years. It exposes you as an uncritical mark who can be counted on to not take out trash

Congrats on the paper - super interesting to see the families tracked over all that time.

EvoPsych, as taught by Anne Campbell, is literally the reason I didn't quit Psychology in my first term at uni. It is such a shame that Kanazawa and Co weren't dealt with back then.

This is the original by the composer. He plays it a bit different (better) than me... ;)

In case anyone else wanted to learn this music...

Thank you! I ended up learning that piece specifically because I got this piano (I had had the sheet music for a while but never got round to it on the electric piano. Then I blitzed it in a week back in May because it sounds so perfect on the Bechstein.)

@drboothroyd.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:55 PM

Here it is in all its sun-drenched glory back in May. Absolutely gorgeous. I am going to save up to have it revarnished after 130 years of sitting in the windows of people's sitting rooms.

@drboothroyd.bsky.socialOct 7, 2026, 1:53 PM

I acquired a 130 year old Bechstein in late May as a birthday present to myself. It then spent 3 months out of action having the hammers and dampers repaired and I finally got it back yesterday. Sheer joy. Church music afficionados may be interested to know it was once played by Herbert Howells...

I have rarely been more happy than the day I was making a dress pattern and had to dig out my scientific calculator so I could calculate some angles of wedges and circumferences of curves. I lived GCSE and A Level maths but that's the only time I used the geometry components in real life.

@drboothroyd.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 9:09 PM

Is that because we are descendants of the survivors? Or did it really kill 1/3 of Europe with a transmission rate like that?

@drboothroyd.bsky.socialOct 5, 2026, 2:36 PM

Indeed. The hit/miss profile is curiously distorted...
