I love Halloween, Wolverine, Bronze age Marvel comics, Robert E Howard's Conan, Indiana Jones, Masters of the Universe, Vintage Star Wars, and Universal Monsters.
Did you guys see Bill's watch?
The comic shop nearest me uses the look up the price at the register method and charges near mint regardless of quality. Times were simpler when you didn't have to pick up 32 books in a never-ending story arc to be followed by another huge event crossover immediately after.
Another reason I went to back issues was accessibility. Gone were the days when you could walk into any convenience store, pharmacy, grocery store, etc and buy a book off the shelf or spinner rack. Closing of many comic book shops with the remaining few getting rid of back issues and shifting focus
I never stopped reading. I shifted my focus to back issues in 1991. Factors to that decision: I don't have a local comic shop, prices, retcons, 90s extreme, loss of newsprint or Baxter paper, I dislike glossy paper, loss of 64 color palette, I dislike digitally colored, body proportions, etc.
