Thumbnail page for hARToween26 so far Even for lower effort pieces, I get a lot of mileage out of exploratory sketches and thumbnails.

Page of thumbnails and study drawings for drawing prompts:
several versions of a lighthouse looking over a foggy sea, lighting up a distant ghost ship (scrapped idea for "spooky lantern").
A few doodles of a hungry ghost and lotus lantern for "Spooky Lantern"
Some attempts at a cinema with the audience all looking backwards at the viewer (scrapped from "Owl be seeing you") and a few of a man walking away with his head turned backwards (for "Owl be seeing you"
Exploration of a flower and a hellscape for "Hellflower" (scrapped)
One thumbnail for "Grim Harvest" (sometimes the first attempt just works)
And finally several ghost-type Pokemon (Spoiler for "Ghastly Garden")

You can call me 100k, I draw whatever I feel like, which is usually more goofy than scary. I try to post everything I draw, because I noticed how most artists hide the failures and WIPs from social media; and I want to be a source to see the whole process of creating and improving art skills.

I think lucky day 13 was when I really started cooking. Something just clicked and I was able to make this piece exactly how I pictured it. I'm still proud of this one, at that point it was probably my best totally original artwork and even a year later I find very little in it that I'd change.

Ah yes, the perfect media landscape consisting only of franchise sequels with uncomplicated characters doing only absolutely good things... That's like suggesting we should eat a diet of only white bread, what an awful dystopia of emotional vapidness they yearn for...

Bulk repost from #hartoween25 cos I was offline for the past few days.
Funny enough, these were all along the theme of one pic cartoon gags.
I continued to use more 3d models, brushes and photobash, which really paid off.
Clearest example is ghost girl, returning from the dollhouse pic

Digital comic panel of a young witch crying and cleaning up a spilled potion from a magic book. Her speech bubble says "Hecuba is going to kill me!"Digital comic panel of a ghostly young girl in a pink nightgown floating through a yellow dress in a shop display window. She's smiling at her reflection, which makes it looks like she's wearing the dress.Digital comic panel of a fly trap type plant with legs and arms of vines in an exaggerated sneaking posture. The plant is creeping past a suburban home with a garden full of flowers.Digital comic panel of Baba Yaga, a naked green hag covered in flowers and moss in a flying wooden mortar, using the pestle like a rudder. She is flying past a sparse woodland with a look of confused frustration.
A thought Ballon reads "who the heck is Bennet Foddy?" In reference to the player character of 'Getting Over It', who sits in a cauldron, similar to Baba Yaga's mortar.

This piece started to show some growth; I used the tools better and my 'painting' improved as well. I wish I'd added maybe just one more whole person in the crowd, but I still like the overall composition.

My default "goofy cartoon" face: huge mouth and nose, different sized eyes that touch in the middle. Hard to go wrong lol. That background turned out pretty rad, considering it boiled down to layering swirls randomly.

They're all terrible at bluffing. You can see right through them!

#hARToween26 Hellflower

Thumbnail is all I've got in me today.

Thumbnail sized Pencil sketch of a flaming hellscape with a single tiny flower growing in the corner of the foreground.
Below that; a sketch study of the flower in more detail.

That melody had slipped my mind, so I had to sing the phrase a few different ways to get it back haha. Great piece! I always love the sense of movement in your art 🙂

The idea was for the skull to look like barista art, but I could NOT figure out how to paint coffee foam for the life of me. Mug and spoon look better thanks again to tracing my refs.

Part 2/?

Tiny rubber ducks with costumes drawn on:
Ghost
Frankensteins monster
Devil
Jason Vorhees
Mummy

Despite tracing it, I'm still pretty pleased with the water effect and Dark Link here. I couldn't find a ref for what I had in mind so I had to photobash, which was a Eureka moment for my digital painting. I learnt a lot by painting the BG on one layer without erasing.

I'm almost a full day ahead in Aus, haha. My kids were pretty chill this morning so I had a few hours to knock it out today.

@100kbaddrawings.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 11:08 PM

Oh gross, those dumplings would look pretty tasty if they weren't staring at me...

#hARToween26 Ghoulish Gathering

Pencil sketch of a woman in mourning clothes picking a tuberous root out of a weedy grave. The weathered headstone reads "RIP"
@100kbaddrawings.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 8:10 AM

I think this is the first artwork I "painted", and was really where I started to click with the process and tools in CSP. I still like this one from a concept and composition standpoint, I think it does a good job of storytelling.

#hARToween26 Owl be seeing you

Pencil sketch of a man in darkness walking away from the viewer. His head is turned 180° to face backwards, his eyes are dilated and sunken into his face. He's wearing a hoodie, jeans and a backpack, contrasting the direction he's moving against his unnaturally backwards staring face.
