Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resume? William Carlos Williams: C'mon man, I put it all in the note. They were so sweet and so–– oh, in the *resume*? Sure, that's easy...

"Linear reality" is an all-time favourite category error for me. Second only to "updating my priors", really.

For non-psychologists: the Individual is worth 50, the Microsystem of school, society & neighbours is 25, the Exosystem of media family and government is worth triple, and the Chronosystem double. Surprisingly, only the Individual and the Microsystem are called 'the bull'.

You'd somehow totally forgotten that we'd sent them separately in their own shipping container.

Interviewer: can you explain this gap in your resume? Imputation estimator: Of course! I was raising children, illegally employed, imprisoned or hospitalized, with a small chance of having joined the French Foreign Legion.

Bayflow, surely? With its practitioners known as Bayflowers.

cute wedding photos!

Yeah, came here to say that. I also like that they apparently deploy an argumentative superweapon that rebuts not just existing arguments against their position but all possible but not yet actualized ones too.

Maybe bc we forgot that error bars are only a summary statistic for what we actually want: a plausible distribution for outcomes. And that we only want _that_ so we can a) push it the next computation, e.g. what is P(y(1)-y(0))? or b) summarize it in a way that actually matters, e.g. what's p(y>0)?

Fair enough. But it's not accidental that Nuremberg is in Germany.

@conjugateprior.orgOct 8, 2026, 5:41 PM

Ha! well, indeed. But that seems to be the crux of it. It's the state parties that have to do the getting, assuming they haven't dealt with it themselves as they're meant to. And if they kinda don't feel like it. Well 🤷🏻

See this is the bit I don't understand. imho the US will not join the ICC under any administration, but lets say it does. Then complementarity means it'd be obliged to try to prosecute American 'him's in the US first. Which honestly also seems the better option. There's plenty of law to do it with.

When people say 'send him to the Hague!' I always wonder who is doing the sending, because the Hague doesn't do pickups. Not the same country that refuses to try him for all that stuff at home, I hope.

In the article he credits the idea to a researcher in another field. Absolute rookie error for an economist to admit that kind of thing 😉

One has identified one's estimand.

@conjugateprior.orgOct 7, 2026, 1:27 PM

imho the interesting thing is the (implicit) requirements. There are two demands on section identifiers: 1) they are stably tied to the content, like a uuid or hash 2) they sort like the bundle of letters & numbers they are. As these are generally incompatible we get 'bis', 'ter' and other mayhem.
