Such a great and brave game narratively, even if my memory of playing it is like hacking electrical boxes or whatever
A pleasure to briefly speak to @patlike.bsky.social on the weirdly apocalyptic feeling in media right now - and what can be done to arrest it. And great to be featured alongside Andy and Chris, as ever.

this is so fucking sad
Enjoyed this conversation with the DD2DA devs, where we talked about all the changes to the game over the last two years, and while some of the super difficulty softening things like Eternal Ferrystone aren't in the director's optimum vision, he's made peace with people using it more than he'd like:
My thoughts on Dark Arisen and generally the state of DD2 in 2026. This is more a re-review of the whole game than just the expansion content, examining the moves made by Capcom to defang a delightfully unapologetically unfriendly original release:
that is a feature of the policy, not a bug
September was a good month for @dbspringboard.bsky.social - but it can be better.

As the months pass and the bad news grows, independent media is more important than ever.
Having played DD2 since pre-release through multiple updates and platforms, Capcom put in a ton of work into optimizing the game itself and this port. Since embargo didn't allow comparisons, I focused on the Switch 2 version and how it feels having enjoyed DD1 on Switch 1 years ago.
I should also say, the changes are relatively optional. IE, you don't have to use the unlimited fast travel item & the limited-use ones are still doled out in the same cadence. So you could force yourself to recreate the launch experience, but it requires willpower as the easier option is there
It's still really special but there's a real beauty to a game willing to literally let you almost destroy a 15 hour save file by allowing you to do something stupid & saying, "no, you can't roll back your save: figure a way out of this mess you got yourself in, dipshit"
