One of South London’s very best. Great to see plans for London to celebrate David Bowie’s extraordinary legacy as we look ahead to what would have been his 80th birthday.

10,000 new homes unlocked. By stepping in where councils have refused planning permission, we're accelerating housebuilding across the capital. We’re using every power available to tackle London’s housing crisis and get homes built.

I refuse to allow the poison of hatred and prejudice to drip into our communities. That’s why I’ve invested £17 million in initiatives to tackle hate crime. This National Hate Crime Awareness Week reminds us why it’s important to build a London where everyone feels safe, welcome, and valued.

Today is World Mental Health Day. I know that the rising cost of living and the pressures of everyday life can have a real impact on our mental health. Yet too many Londoners still suffer in silence.

We’re disrupting the stolen phone trade at every level. With hundreds of arrests and seizures of phones, cash, weapons and illegal e-bikes, we’re determined to keep up the pressure and drive these numbers down further.

Graphic showing mobile phone offences in London were driven down by more than 16,000 last year. Mobile phone theft from the person is 23% lower, while mobile phone robbery is 4% lower.

The funny thing about Stratford International: it’s not international. That needs to change. Bringing cross-Channel rail services to Stratford would boost jobs and £1.3 billion in tourism spending. I’m working with the government to get it on track.

This is 100% the right move. No one should have to suffer the indignity of damp, mould or other hazards in their homes. The government has my full backing on this.

Black Londoners have shaped our city and helped make London what it is today. I had the privilege of celebrating that contribution at City Hall. Honouring our communities means continuing to break barriers, challenge injustice & build a fairer London. Thank you to Black Londoners, past & present.

Nollywood is here 🇳🇬 Delighted to open the new EbonyLife studios, bringing Lagos to London and more diverse storytelling to the big screen.

The Met’s tactics against phone thieves, and the organised crime networks behind them, are getting results. Phone thefts in London are now at a four-year low, thanks to tough action and record police funding from City Hall.

From Nollywood to London, the story continues. I’m delighted to welcome EbonyLife Place London, a new home for African and Black film, music, art, fashion and food. Proud to celebrate both Lagos and London, two global capitals of creativity.

The tide is turning on phone theft in London. 16,000 fewer phones were stolen last year following the Met's biggest ever crackdown and record funding for our police service from City Hall.

@london.gov.ukOct 8, 2026, 2:13 PM

We will not let up in our pursuit of these criminals and we'll continue working with the mobile phone industry to make stolen phones harder to use, sell and profit from.
