The internet is getting weirder...so we're getting better.

This year we added a free built-in VPN, AI features you can enable or block, split view, and more privacy tools.

And we’re not done yet. Coming soon: a cleaner, more modern Firefox with new ways to make it your own. mzl.la/fxwhatsnext

You should get to choose the technology you interact with everyday, and have that choice actually be respected. We’re asking Microsoft to fix this everywhere, not just where the law requires it. blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/o...

More than 100 days ago, we not only published the findings, we actually spoke directly with Microsoft. The answer? They will do more to respect people’s choices only where the law requires it like in the EU.

Earlier this year we published independent research showing how @microsoft.com continues to undermine browser choice through tactics that steer people toward Edge, even after they’ve chosen another browser.

@firefox.comOct 7, 2026, 3:52 PM

Most people don’t choose their browser. But if you use Firefox, then you did, and that choice deserves to be respected regardless of where you live.

People filing bugs and sharing their thoughts as the design refresh came to life helped shape what you see today, so a big thank you to our community.

Also in 157: design refinements that include softer tab shapes, updated icons balanced for light and dark themes, and a refreshed color palette inspired by the ‘fire’ in Firefox.

Firefox 157 drops today, bringing back Compact Mode, this time with its own dedicated setting. During early testing many of you shared that you didn’t want to lose density in the new design. That feedback directly impacted this release.

Not at launch. Rounded shapes are part of the core design language, and there's no built-in slider for it. userChrome.css still works if you want to go that route, and the theme and customization system gives real control over look and feel otherwise.

We’ve worked with our community to gather feedback before our broader rollout, and you’ll see changes in Firefox that directly reflect what we’ve heard. We’re excited to bring this new experience to life with FX 157. More to come soon. 4/4

We’ve modernized the look and feel, added themes, wallpapers and widgets, and we’re (re)introducing functional features to make the most out of the space you have. We've always believed that a browser should work around how you use the web, and this release pushes that further. 3/4

First: What hasn’t changed: your extensions, shortcuts, and menus. Everything is still where and how you left them. What's different is the surface: cleaner toolbar, tidier tabs, less visual noise. 2/4

The web has changed a lot over the last few years, and we've been changing with it. Our new Firefox design ships September 29 with FX 157. If you haven’t tried it out on Nightly yet, here’s what you can expect 🔽 1/4

This is a fully optional experience that you have to turn on yourself and is separate from your regular browsing. In fact, you don't have to use AI features in Firefox period. You can choose to enable or block features entirely in Settings > AI Controls.

No change to that promise. We don't sell your data, full stop. www.firefox.com/en-US/user-p...
