Things got a little weird in Milwaukee. Takeaways from an off night for the Bucks starters — and for Caleb Wilson:
Josh Giddey did not take a single shot in the first half of tonight's preseason game against the Bucks. Interesting trend from the guard, who is barely averaging five shots per game in the preseason overall. He took more than 13 per game last season. Clearly looking to pass first right now.

Matas is checking a lot of boxes this preseason
That type of off-ball rotational rim protection is so important for Caleb Wilson to establish early, especially with the Bulls looking so overwhelmed at the perimeter
Nope not picked up yet, I get the sense they need to figure out what they have there first.
Just part of the learning process. NBA defenders are walling him up a lot better, he just needs more time to develop his counters and secondary options. Tiago doesn’t mind the shot inherently but wants him to move off it a bit.
I don’t even mind it for now, he needs to be confident and push himself on offense, but there’s a physical awkwardness to it that he needs to outgrow
I do think some of it is going to start working for but — even getting that foul off Edey for instance — but in the meantime he’s really full sending himself to glory on these dunk attempts
Watching back last night’s game and man Noa Essengue really tries some of the funniest stuff at the rim
If Matas Buzelis is going to get anywhere this season, he’ll have to start by getting to the rim. How he’s approaching a crucial season, one drive at a time:
Noa for instance could be anywhere from 6-foot-8 to 6-foot-11 depending on whether you check the NBA, Bulls or ESPN records. That’s a big swing!
A couple Bulls players posed this question themselves this week — Jalen Smith didn’t like his listed height — but haven’t gotten a firm answer on how medical reports these. Both amusing and a little frustrating to have 3+ reported heights circling for different players.
A Dillon Brooks matchup is a pretty tough way for any rookie to get introduced to the NBA. But for Caleb Wilson? “That was fun, I ain’t gonna lie.”
