Canada should be building up massive greenhouse capacity, relying on geothermal energy, across the country to grow our own food. Sovereignty means getting things right, and getting the hell away from reliance on the US for ALL THINGS.

Not sure I agree with all of this, but it is well worth reading.

"The rule of law is under vicious attack in this province and I am not the first, nor will I be the last, to call this out. When an institution is silent in the face of what is happening in this province, that silence is complicity." Another resignation at the Law Society.

100% correct. A violation of charter rights and a more egregious violation of human dignity.

Overriding local decisions that allow for more housing supply makes zero sense. Watching a conservative government add heavy regulation to free-market housing supply is simply mind-boggling.

Millions of Americans literally bet their life that RFK Jr, a complete crackpot, knew science better than the CDC and Jonas Salk and just about every living doctor

I got some great questions and we had a great discussion afterwards. Thanks to all those faculty and students who came out on the Friday before a long weekend! And it was great to do the talk in honour of the late Ran Hirschl, a world leading scholar of comparative constitutionalism. 2/2

I had a fantastic time today giving my talk a UofT on the obsolescence of the Quebec Seccesion Reference. I explained why the secession of a province over the objection of affected Indigenous communities is legally and politically unconstitutional. 1/n

You are providing a definition of violence. The removal of the bike lanes aren't the violence, as per your own definition. Indeed, your own wording implies "creating the conditions" for something is definitionally not the same thing as the thing itself. Which was, quite literally, my original point.

Sharply split 5-4 Supreme Court on how sentencing factors should be weighed for Indigenous offenders, in a decision released today: decisions.scc-csc.ca/scc-csc/scc-...

Theatre of the absurd! Trump announces US will buy diesel from russia even though he signed a law mandating sanctions for any country buying russian energy. Meanwhile russia actually has a diesel export ban because they can’t meet domestic demand.

Trump throws Putin yet another lifeline while russia intensifies its killing of Ukrainian civilians. Every American who loves democracy and freedom should be deeply ashamed of their govt and working to punish it for this betrayal of basic American values and interests.

About 80% of responses have read a take on cycling messaging as if it suggested cyclists don't face violence. Which appears nowhere in my post. Next: "No one cares about reading comprehension when people are dying, Emmett!"

@emmettmacfarlane.comOct 9, 2026, 7:32 PM

Violence has no meaning [yes, shockingly, the cyclists are alllll over my feed for a post from yesterday]

We've let the dumbest motherfucking reactionary ignorant dipshits change decades of smart policies and societal practices.

The most powerful country in the world is run by psychopaths.

Endless clownery.

3... 2... 1... [prepares to get yelled at. But I'm 100% right].

Cycling activists would get a ton more public support if they avoided framing debates over things like bike lanes like this. Emphasize SAFETY, yes. Bike lanes make cities better. They can even make DRIVING better, by reducing congestion. Invoking 'violence' in ways most people won't buy isn't it.

In my fields (poli sci or law) we tend to get at least two or three weeks. Sometimes they give six weeks, and I think that's actually too long, because it encourages procrastination.
