I write about movies. Sometimes I talk about them. Usually just write. Award-winning screenwriter for what it's worth. Film instructor at the University of Colorado, Denver, but ridiculous social media presence definitely my own. http://walterchaw.com

2nd suicide in our community this week. We talk about how hard things are in Hollywood right now, but it is so much worse than many think. People who have sacrificed everything to make movies are finding dwindling opportunities and heartbreak. If shit gets dark, reach out to friends. You are loved.

I think "Anthony Scaramucci set the bar, and Katie Zacharia couldn't pass the bar" is the most devastatingly casual annihilation I've seen in some time

Learned of Jeremiah Kipp's death just now - among the first writers I met from epinions about 27yrs ago. Unfailingly kind. Sharp, passionate, a champion of horror. I wish he could have seen the absolute outpouring of grief for him today. Could he have known he'd touched so many? Gone way too soon.

Stunned and saddened to hear of the passing of Jeremiah Kipp. An acquaintance from the epinions days whose first short I reviewed for the late, lamented iViews. Had lost touch with him but was thrilled to see his career take off. He was smart, gracious, and loved film as much as anyone I know. #RIP
