My recap of yesterday's win. #RCTID
James Pantemis says that the team treated the set piece that the Galaxy scored from like a corner kick. "I'm not really sure where he [Haak] came from. It can't happen like that." #RCTID
"We're not out of it. We know we're not out of it. This league is very interesting because every year it all comes down to Decision Day. We just gotta win. We have to take care of business." -James Pantemis #RCTID
"I think we defend as a team and attack as a team and right now every little detail is killing us. We're just getting punished because we're not in the right space every single time." -James Pantemis #RCTID
Marti Cifuentes says that Antony is dealing with some knee pain, while Cole Bassett is still fighting off an illness as reasons why neither player featured in tonight's game. #RCTID
"He knows the things that he needs to improve. I think he was much better in the second half. We need him to have the cutting edge to give us the points." -Marti Cifuentes on Kristoffer Velde #RCTID
"There are a lot of things we need to improve, for sure. We're conceding in every game. We cannot put ourselves in a position to score 3-4 goals to get something from these games. We were missing that cutting edge in the last third." -Marti Cifuentes #RCTID
"I think that sometimes we're missing a sense of urgency. I think that sometimes we were a bit complacent in the first half. In the second half, we did more. We were more aggressive." -Marti Cifuentes #RCTID
"We created more situations in the box in the second half. We felt that they were better than us at the end of the game. We're disappointed. There's nothing to complain for on the effort of the guys." -Marti Cifuentes #RCTID
"It's a difficult feeling right now. We had big expectations for the game. After we conceded the goal, we were not capable of creating chances." -Marti Cifuentes #RCTID
Another 2-0 loss on the road for the 2-0 loss variety pack. This one is much more damaging, as Portland's already thin playoff hopes seem to be extinguished. Felt like the Galaxy barely got out of first gear, while the Timbers struggled to put the key in the ignition. #RCTID
Free kick sequence begins with Hernandez marking Klauss with the understanding that Miller and Waterman would be in the middle as zonal markers. Reus' delivery goes directly into that middle, and Haak has a free header past Pantemis. 2-0 Galaxy, 80th minute. #RCTID
The Galaxy, with their one-goal lead, have barely felt the need to threaten Portland's box in the second half. They carry the ball forward and then recycle. Timbers should be viewing this as an act of disrespect. #RCTID
Aravena and Izoita replace Janssen and Caicedo in the 74th minute. Ortiz moves to the 6. #RCTID
Portland's first change is Smith for a yellow-carded Fory in the 63rd minute. #RCTID
Velde picks up a yellow after Garces makes a good tackle to dispossess him, only for Velde to retaliate out of obvious frustration. #RCTID
It's been a better start to the second half, highlighted by a couple of purposeful tempo changes in the attack. Playing slow and methodically needs to be balanced by the ability to go quickly. #RCTID
Very good corner kick leads to Lassiter finding a free Kamal Miller at the back post. Good header into the grass, but Marcinkowski denies him. Da Costa's corner gets cleared, and Velde rockets it wide left. Portland's best opportunities of the game thus far. #RCTID
Cont'd:
-So much walking. Timbers get the ball around LAG's box, and there are no dangerous runs besides the basic overlap/underlaps. Ceding space to the Galaxy on defense. Looks like a team that has checked out.
-Impressed with Ronald Hernandez. That's about it.

Halftime thoughts from my couch:
-Silver lining? Timbers are only down 1-0. Scoreline does not reflect the flow of the game.
-One shot in 47 minutes against a team that just conceded 5 goals in the first half against St. Louis and is leaving plenty of space to exploit.
#RCTID
Velde's 45+2' low drive (that Marcinkowski easily saves) is Portland's first shot of the game. #RCTID
