I would argue with that, but then I'd have to account for the number of times Sak's been taken captive.

Being an elder sibling by nineteen years, has made me realise how out of the loop I am now. My mother randomly asks me if I know x, y, z meme that the little brother has been repeating, and all I can do is ask "what on earth are you talking about?"

Cue Kuveli jumping out in front of a dangerous animal, and shouting "you can't see me!" Then Sakara having to grab his shoulder strap and yank him back behind the bushes.

It occurs to me just now, I wonder if having orange fur as a hunter is slightly advantageous. I remember reading that a number of animals can't see orange, and it instead appears as a shade of green or brown, hence a number of animals growing flamboyant orange fur.

If you see this, show your orange art

I recall Conor telling me, one of the first times I went to visit him, that the water in the area tasted awful because it's imported. Reason being that there used to be a uranium mine nearby, and it wasn't cleaned up properly after closure. Thus the groundwater is slightly spicy.

In terms of sediment/particulates, I know here we have... I believe it's high quantities of limestone dissolved in the water. Not an issue for consumption, just causes limescale to form inside pipes and on taps. A minor inconvenience. And, uh... dangerous groundwater is reminding me.

The Roman Baths over in, well, Bath have a basin plugged into the local spring that you can try. Can definitely taste the difference in that. Although, my brain being stupid, wouldn't let me swallow it since the water in the baths is now very dirty. Of course, that's only fed from the spring.

Silt isn't ideal, but it could be worse. I recall seeing somewhere... You can make a filter for particulates using woven reeds, but I can't recall if it's a specific kind of reed or not.

As I said elsewhere: I will take five of him, and we are not asking. Not above captur- I mean, forcefully adopting him into the Lentavohi, and treating him like royalty.

Drawtober 8 - Fox

I didn't have many ideas for this prompt, so I just drew a random prehistoric fox. He doesn't seem to be a very friendly fellow, but maybe he'll warm up a bit soon!

Also he wears no pants. Who needs those when you have a thick fur coat? :P

An anthropomorphic fox in prehistoric attire, with a fling knife, bodypaint and a necklace made of boar tusks. He's crouching in the snow, giving a wary look to the viewer.

Reminds me of folks looking at you funny, if you mention water having flavour. The yeen said our water tastes chlorinated, but having lived here 26 years you don't notice. Then, of course, travelling a decent amount you notice it abroad.

I know this is a tangent, but it's neat. Went with this after reading about a study, where folks tried living as Mesolithic hunter-gatherers. And it was noted they defaulted to rationing food, because they had an end date to work towards. Which wouldn't be the case for actual ancient people.

@sakarafox.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 12:05 PM

Also brings to mind another subject that came up recently: Food rationing. Sakara's folk don't ration food, outside of winter and times of scarcity. If they're short of anything, they go to friends to ask for it, or go out and get more of it. Imagine grocery shopping, but it's spearing food instead

@sakarafox.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 12:05 PM

Certainly don't have a few interesting survival-related channels and resources bookmarked, it's helpful for certain things and interesting Although, can be misleading in one or two ways too. Like how a lot go solo, and thus the experience is one of constant work, as opposed to sharing that work out

@sakarafox.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:13 AM

And I imagine Sak's folks have enough of an understanding, from observation, to know something's up if seemingly clean river water starts getting people sick. Enough so to send out a few scouts, and check upriver for dead animals and such.

The future is now, old man. Yes, I am now off work for a couple of days. And there's a non-zero chance I lose those days to more trains. I refuse to take the blame, the GG1 is just too neat for its own good.

*Slaps Atatu on head* This boi can still fit so much trauma.

@sakarafox.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 10:00 AM

I dread to think what they might of used for our Rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party, or Vietnam War minor courses.

@sakarafox.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 7:57 AM

You never know. Maybe I’m messing with those β€œancient aliens” conspiracy nuts, and some space-bound civ has been finding it convenient to dump stuff in their oceans. The megaliths were built to tell them to piss off, someone lives here.
