Top ten hoopster reads of the last two years???

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 5:25 AM

It is worth a lot, and boy I do be grappling. Or grappled.

Prophecy is real but prophets are mad

Omg such a good point I would be in a totally different world without the microblogging community. Imagine! Your only source of capacity is people at work and the problems arrayed at your feet. The absolute horror of a blogless world

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 9:10 PM

Maybe this is just folk superstition but I assume that slider doesn’t do anything (having been involved in the ZDR negotiations)

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:55 PM

I think this is roughly the current situation but more so. ZDR agreements (for whatever they’re worth) are only available on api plans. The models do get bored as evidenced by refusals. Not a perfect analogy but nevertheless

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

I guess that’s probably enough for this episode. I’m not drawn too intensely to those bigger questions. I feel I have my own answers for those, and the questions are largely fatuous, like the conclusions don’t matter. We are well beyond the exploration stage as an operator the task now is keeping up

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

And now I don’t burn out so much. I have to imagine those things are related, that I’m less involved with the day to day, so to speak. I’m getting weeks of work done in hours. Call that a 20x improvement? It has required me to be the squishy little slime I am by nature, totally amenable to new paths

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

That’s done, the tools now hold most of the roadmap. It’s like the beginning of the year saw my promotion to manager, and sometime this year I’ve been promoted to director. The models see the task, and appear to entrpreneurialize around it, and I’m almost always delighted by their direction

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

The general uplift in tool quality over this year means more work gets done in the turn. Thereby I become the boiling frog, unconsciously expanding the length of task. I think back to January and the steps that had to be taken, that I had to hold each step in the roadmap.

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

On tactics, I still feel I am not close to a superior operating method than hand guiding every turn. Every attempt I have made towards closing the loop with oracles has not gone my way, the productive thing has been to lay out a task, see the result of the work, and redirect appropriately

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

So without my my family providing emotional strain, and physical exercise, I don’t have much aside from the tools right now. I don’t have a mental backstroke. Or the mental backstroke I’ve invented for myself is the websites which is different but related to work Claude. Strange thing

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

That exertion could be orthogonal, and that the orthogonality was a means of rest. You work your mind in school, you work your body in the pool. That’s balance. You train freestyle all day you cool down in backstroke. Orthogonality of exertion beats stasis for recovery. Never be idle

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

I do feel drained. More drained than usual. I have far far fewer spare flops for things I love. I haven’t read a book this year. I am lucky to have duties and obligations that have nothing to do with the tools (two small children). I’m reminded of my high school swim coach. He was always saying

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

I think is quite likely that I have emotionally coarsened over the year. These things don’t really have a metric but on average, at a mirrors glance, I’m less sympathetic towards my suffering compatriots. Don’t you know there’s an eschaton on? I mean it’s not exactly that but it’s not so far.

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

It felt at one point of maximal psychosis that I was having micro burnouts daily, that I was obsessed and manic depressive cycling at an alarming rate, a rate consistent with a prior life of addiction. The biggest surprise maybe is that the cycling has faded. I do wonder if this is a general fading

@minormobius.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:38 PM

Feeling ruminous. I think it’s fair to say the rise of the agents has changed my life. We are ten months in, I think it’s a good amount of time to adapt to a new environment. I think consistent with my expectation, I am having fewer episodes of burnout with the tools, stamina is a trainable entity

This might still be quite hinky on mobile but its a delight on desktop, and stabilizing. Its a train game, its a city model, its a mappa. Check it out!
