Again, it's a little awkward being the person who has to start from a blank page over and over but it's been a chance to share into the literal margins, in handwriting, stories connected to the academically legible work @walshbr.bsky.social cites that I've never talked about and generally won't.
My hope is that it becomes something like a conversation between the annotators too, but as the starting person I'm just highlighting favorite bits, doodling, putting hearts where needed, and sticking in comments in the margins.
We're making it up as we go! I bought a paper copy, shipped to me, and a set of highlighters and pens. I'm annotating it, sharing it with local people to annotate, then collecting info for people who want it next and we'll mail it around until they all get it, then send it to Brandon.
It occurred to me that maybe it'd be nice to print you a little book of people's process posts if they share here. π€·πΌ
Another data point for the bingeability of @walshbr.bsky.social "Embedded Pedagogies", already halfway through my reread even taking breaks for highlighting, doodles, exclamation marks, and commentary. #EPFanEd
That burden, for better or worse, is one you'll probably have to bear alone here. This edition is all joy and lovefest.
I completely forgot about that and got very excited to see it! π€
Drinking my coffee, having a quiet morning with the Fan Edition of @walshbr.bsky.social "Embedded Pedagogies" with a lovely shout out to the @archive.org (which, upon reflection, has more pillars than my doodle gave it credit for.) #EPFanEd
I would enthusiastically join that!
The sparkly foam letters are perfection on the Fan Edition cover and will debut next week.
This is my kind of reading. Communal, attuned to book history, bedazzled. π
Update: I have seen the bedazzled cover and it is spectacular.
treat your body like a data center. consume as much water, art and literature as possible. upset local municipalities with your existence.
Oh yeah, it's definitely not a "don't cut the strings" or "meaningfully patch it" situation regardless!
I'm really struggling with what, if anything, to do about that in the weaving I'm working on. I can't go track down people to find out if they got their grants back. But when I know there's one that got reinstated, do I do something to at least partially mend the hole?
Very excited to have a @chloecumming.bsky.social owl of my own joining things from @artologica.net & @minouette.bsky.social & @halperta.bsky.social in my favorite corner of my room.π¦ π₯°
The form has been updated!
I feel grumbly about that because scale is annoying: I'll have several people in different Bay Area cities annotating before it gets mailed, but on a country-wide map it'll all get mushed together. How about this as a compromise: we can add location to name for the metadata to enable mapping?
I am very open about the fact that I hate maps and it's the one type of DH I have opted out of ever doing much with or knowing much about. ππ» It's a delightful idea if someone else were to do it, though!
Oh yeah, the date was the first thing I noticed on the page. π³
