Nice write-up from Above the Law on PPP’s move to @rooseveltinstitute.org.

The only thing I’ll add to this fine statement is that vindictive prosecutions are now a feature, not a bug, of our constitutional system, thanks to Trump v. United States. Unless and until Congress adopts deep, structural measures, presidential harassment through the criminal system won’t go away.
Solving for systemic failures at the municipal level—on an extremely short timeline—isn’t easy. But it’s incumbent upon city leaders to do everything possible, using the resources we have, to develop dignified, intentional, research-informed strategies to support our unhoused neighbors.

That is not what strict constructionism is
Minnesota U.S. Senate debate: Peggy Flanagan accuses Michele Tafoya of trying to "reinvent" after initially supported the ICE surge. "Michele Tafoya, again, is trying to reinvent who she is just to get across the finish line here in the final weeks of the campaign."
Always appreciate when St Paul gets some national attention 🙄 Proud of the ordinances passed here to protect our rights and neighbors.
Oh good, more unnecessary lawsuits for St. Paul. www.startribune.com/doj-sues-st-...

Today, we're announcing a new legal leadership pipeline to help shape law, policy, and economic power. @peoplesparity.bsky.social's staff, network, and programming will be integrated into Roosevelt this fall and winter, carrying PPP's mission forward inside the Roosevelt Society.
Is this what it feels like when your kid goes to college? I never could have imagined that a group of law students complaining about how the law was screwing workers over would turn into all of this. I’m so grateful for the last eight years, and so very excited for what’s to come.
Join Team Rebecca and Councilmembers Molly Coleman and Saura Jost for a door knock this Sunday, October 18.
Door knocking is a fun, easy way to share why you are supporting Rebecca Noecker for Ramsey County Commissioner.

The President is a racist xenophobe who's weaponizing the government that belongs to us—we, the people—against public servants. It's an attack on Ilhan; an attack on our democracy; and another attack on the version of our country that Minnesotans have shown we will always fight for.
This story makes it sound like the major problem is that the Trump Admin did this w/in 60 days of an election. Yes, that's a real abuse. But the major problem is they're basically threatening to denaturalize an opposition legislator, based on racist insinuations. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/u...
Got a really nice picture of the whole family at the top of the Highland Park Water Tower!!!
One feels far more of an urgent threat than others, but it's not coincidence that the President used racist tropes, a transphobic slur, and horrific rhetoric targeting our Somali communities all in the same week. Our lives and communities are intertwined. Let's stand up to hate, together.
Trump’s obsession with demonizing the Somali community is dangerous and reprehensible. Hate to break it to him: Somali Minnesotans are resilient. We will not let Trump intimidate us. Our neighbors have our back.
That’s all I’ve got for now, here’s a picture I took after a day when my HourCar membership came in extremely clutch this summer.
• I don’t want to create a false sense of optimism, because I’m not yet optimistic. But I also do want people to know that there are folks at all levels of government committed to turning over every stone possible to try to keep this essential program working for the people of the Twin Cities.
• We’re received loads of feedback on this closure in our office—not just form letters, but personal testimonials about how critical HourCar is to people throughout the Ward, for a whole variety of reasons. Keep them coming (to us and others); stories help.
• That being said, a lot of people wanting a good outcome here is in no way a guarantee that we’ll actually get a good outcome. Six days is not a lot of time, to say the least, and we all know that this is an impossibly hard financial year across the board.
A few quick updates: • Everybody that I’ve spoken to on the government side was caught completely off guard by this, so everybody’s scrambling. • I’ve been in touch with folks in Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Ramsey County, & the state legislature. There are a lot of people who want to save HourCar.
I would not say much has felt particularly funny lately, so BOY did it feel good to laugh at tonight’s @sustainstpaul.bsky.social fundraiser.
I’m crushed to see this news. In Saint Paul, we identified funding in the final weeks of 2025 for Evie in this year’s budget, and were preparing to make significant investments in next year’s budget. I’ve reached out to Public Works to see what more information is available, & will share what I can.
