“Where’s James Talarico?” they screamed when he took 12 days off the campaign trail due to the flu. Yet they remained silent when Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-NJ) was absent for four months and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) missed more than three months.

The thing about this is that as a Paxton campaign gambit it's incredibly stupid and more likely to backfire than help...but as a play within GOP-aligned media it's surely a big success. The GOP has many problems, but a key one is that way too many party actors aren't driven by electoral incentives.
