Definitely

If global electricity is still at 8.8%, and Germany is at 18% - that means we still have a lot of runway before the uber-saturation of places like Germany hits. And now we have batteries to deal with that. Think this means more and faster solar transitions can happen in ‘surprising’ ways. Bullish.

Big bada boom

A key piece of missed in my headline was that this particular explosion knocked a bunch of Russian social media bots offline. Blowing up a data center in an of itself, meh.

@commercialsolarguy.comOct 11, 2026, 8:11 AM

Can we do this worldwide? I’d vote for that…

I’ll follow up with Jenny soon about non-China outcomes so far this year. Also, @solarpowereu.bsky.social said the EU will show growth, while the end of 2025 model suggested EU slowing/flat I think.

‘Outside of China, however, global solar growth continues even as expansion in Europe and the United Stares wobble…According to Bloomberg data, the non-China world installed 251 GW of solar in 2024, is projected to grow nearly 13% to 283 GW in 2025, and is expected to reach 308 GW in 2026.’

Talk soon.

How much runway?

@commercialsolarguy.comOct 10, 2026, 2:53 PM

How much startup capital would you provide?

@commercialsolarguy.comOct 10, 2026, 1:57 PM

So I just logged into Bluesky - and like nine people in a row have retweeeted this thread…so here’s ten!

@commercialsolarguy.comOct 10, 2026, 1:56 PM

Woah that’s a massive decline, and two years in a row.

The key point here is that heat pump sales are outperforming gas furnaces even in the absence of subsidies. The renewable energy transition is happening despite now hostile policies b/c the technology is less expensive to use, effective & provides health, environmental & climate benefits. 🧪💡🔌☀️💨💧🔋

a fuckin planet bro claude

Truth is, tax credits never got going - in fact - the pending tax credits might have slowed heat pump sales as homeowners were waiting for the 30% savings. I know many who did, then once Trump hacked - demand returned to normal.

This is great. Of course, cost of a solar panel shipping container now costs twice as much to ahoonsuenotnsieael issues - but I’m down with EVs being greater than 50%.

"It's 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?" My mom: In bed, or reading, or in a tree, or at Josh’s or Chris’, or maybe Ian’s place… Seeming responsibility of Mom today is to check the iPhone tracker to know if they’re upstairs or downstairs. Of course, I did almost die a few times…
