On Trump's Diesel Deal. Writing this as catharsis because I live in a rental and thus punching walls is off the table.
Reform UK has now lost 171 councillors: 60 resigned, 45 went Independent, 30 defected, 24 were kicked out, 5 lost their seats, 5 are suspended and 2 were disqualified. Jim McIlroy is the second group leader to quit in a fortnight, after Brian Smith on North Tyneside. Updated chart.

I know that people that shout at the radio when it’s Justin Webb but him saying “there’s no evidence” of Russian interference in 2016 is so enraging. There were online ads. This is not in doubt. Even the Torygraph has reported it…
And off we go
Finally read the new AfD strategy paper on Europe. It casts 2029 as a “historic window” to reorient the EU’s foundations through Treaty change, with a right-wing majority in the EP and a German government with AfD participation both within reach. Thread on some notable points:
With the small problem that Orban is out of office now, as well as the Dutch govt that refers to
There is, writes @davidfrum.bsky.social, an "implicit quid pro quo in these lucrative deals offered to Trump’s family and friends: If you compel Ukraine to surrender, we will enrich you beyond reckoning"

Today, we will adopt nearly 1,600 new sanctions listings targeting Russia’s military-industrial complex. This will be the single largest expansion of our sanctions list since Russia started its war.
Another on the list of "things that are obvious from the evidence yet ignored" is "current immigration policy will deliver a great big hole in future budgets". The OBR currently assumes net migration bottoms out at 200k then rises. That isn't going to happen
Having been a subject about which few dared speak, rejoining the EU is now being talked about. Whether that is realistic and could even be done in one Parliamentary / EU term really depends on the UK government being overwhelmingly positive. www.ft.com/content/3aa9...
Meta lost in part (and has lost some other cases)
I wonder what would have happened if folks had taken seriously the rise in political violence and threats against women, trans, Black, and antifascist organizers and figures back when we were all getting swatted and sent photoshops of ourselves beheaded
A massive, and massively underrated, threat to a functioning democracy. (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2026/10/11/u...
I won't be returning to the Nazi CSAM site, even if centrists think it's cool.
I think it's the post being quoted here

It's not even the ethics of it. My career, my hobbies, my free time, hell, my whole life took off once I fully left Twitter. It is a place to go if you want to be stuck in a neverending race war feedback loop. Like not using ChatGPT, not using Twitter is a superpower. Remain employable; stay off it.
Whatever one thinks about this place, all of the larger ones, controlled by Zuckerberg & Musk, are nothing but giant propaganda/misinformation/porn/surveillance machines owned by oligarchs actively collaborating with fascists.
Meta has now appealed this judgment, arguing that Facebook Messenger shouldn't have been designated a "gatekeeper" either
This right wing ratfucking effort is blowing up over on X and will almost certainly be all over Fox and other outlets tomorrow. Steven Miller and Benny Johnson are already pushing it. Two "journalists" claim to have called a rehab center in Ohio who told them that Talarico checked out recently.
We spent too much energy telling people that they could be anything they wanted to be if they just believed and making people think that the 1st amendment allows you just to say whatever you want to. And the result is Nick Sortor who thinks he’s journalist making stuff up.
