I think it at least kinda works for games both cause games are very Object Forward and also it's kinda okay if a game is unmaintainable after a certain point 🫠
A lot of no-code stuff has a double problem too where you are both lead by the UI you make, but you are also lead by the tool you're using Even as someone who has low/pseudo code in game dev, it definitely encourages backward thinking you pay for later.
Digital Eclipse's Making Of interactive documentary (similar to Atari 50) is on heavy discount right now. You get the original games across various platforms, the history, and a new version with commentary from JM.
(it's been a few years, I gotta assume the script has gotten better)
I'm definitely okay with 2021, it's just one of those 'I need to know it's going to work' things. But next time I'm playing around with a secondary box in linux I'll give it a go and hope~
I've always had issues with these scripts, which always scares me a bit
I don't even think it's impossible to make something decent with this shit, especially if the scale is small enough. But it's all or nothing, seemingly. You want easy bash bullshit scripts? Well you also get all your software flipped inside out like Cu Chulainn for all eternity
I haven't been able to bring myself to even play the demo for that, I feel like I'd be making myself frustrated on purpose. 😭 But thank you so much!!
And since all their work comes from burning claude tokens, its only a matter of time until they wanna stop burning money on some goofy side project. Digital garbage.
aaaaa thank you. And yeah I do think a lot of that essay is about Metroidvanias more than the fact I don't like Dread. Dread is like the foil for me to espouse what I love about the genre, but what feels lacking, and what feels superfluous. They can be SO SO good, and yet 😭
Fortunately, we'll live in the world with 10 bad ones made by a hot water boiler :)
There are features missing from my old hacked version lol the whole reverse engineering this is so funny and wack. I go with the 'they ripped off photopea' theory
All these AI apps make it feel like instead of a structured architecture, the UI is the foundation, and what is stacked on top of it doesn't matter, because it's not user facing. Which could kinda spin into making sense, but in practice no, it's fucked up.
Or forget the car metaphor, it's like building a house, starting with the paint, carpet and dry wall. Making something that resembles the target then tearing down and rebuilding over and over because you forgot to build a frame. Working backward gives you results that feel backward!
er, NATIVELY ON LINUX. Which I wish Affinity would do just on principle. But yeah idk like "Maybe if it lived up the promises it'd be worth using" but as always with these AI projects they just kinda disappoint you in all the ways you'd expect.
I don't exactly love the Raster part of affinity (it's not bad, it just has a more narrow focus than photoshop and does that focus area better) but like for real if you don't wanna pirate photoshop just use that, it's really really good
It's like trying to build a car from vibes, with no underlying plan and you just got a lot of parts that LOOK like a car, and it ASSEMBLES like a car, but nothing quite fits together and everything is slightly off and it leaks because the rubber gaskets are misaligned, but it LOOKS nice!
Photoshop is such a gross, annoying piece of software that a fast clone built on rust that also runs natively in windows might make me swallow my ethics if it lived up to its promises, but good news is that it doesn't. :)
My testing was limited because it was immediately clear this was not a serious piece of software but pretty much the only thing it had over Photopea is a timeline editor at all but I'm not gonna mess with that because it's probably dogwater.
