And I asked the question: since when are murdered women and children not a part of the general public? My piece on how law enforcement and the media don’t just minimize domestic violence, they erase it. 2/ dot-connecting.ghost.io/its-the-guns...
So yeah, Shane Gillis calls women whores on SNL and you better believe we need a whole lot of men to be the ones to disrupt the group chat right now.
It is very symbolic of this administration’s infinite levels of gaslighting that they want us to think a reasonable response to an act of gun violence is to livestream an execution by firing squad.
Exactly
It’s public facing and de-identified. Providing a link here so you can check it out! www.mass.gov/info-details...
Thanks for asking! It’s an expansion of who can petition. The 2018 law allowed family members and law enforcement to petition for an Extreme Risk Protection Order. The 2024 law expanded the list of petitioners to include licensed medical and mental health clinicians as well as school administrators.
MA has the second lowest gun crime rate in part because of our strict gun laws. Let’s keep it that way.
Vote Yes on 9 for a Safe Massachusetts, and ensure we keep critical gun violence prevention policies in place! www.yesforasafema.com
“Our opposition has made it clear that they see this as a playbook that they could try in other states that have strong gun laws… this ballot question matters greatly. It matters for MA… but it matters nationally in sending a message that this is not a strategy that is going to work.” 6/
“…That flies in the face of what our opposition says around this being an impediment to legal gun ownership, that is just simply not the case.” My next quote is on why voting YES on 9 matters not just for Massachusetts but for the rest of the country. 5/
On the opposition’s claim that we are taking away their rights to own guns: “There’s nothing in this legislation that disrupts a legal pathway to owning a gun… The year after this law was enacted, more people than before were able to successfully complete getting their License to Carry…” 4/
On the regulation of ghost guns: “We’ve heard from law enforcement that they are very happy to know that there is this requirement to serialize homemade guns. It helps them know when they are responding to a home whether a gun is in that home, and that helps protect their safety as well.” 3/
On the creation of a firearms data dashboard: “We cannot address an issue that we don’t fully understand. So having this data being publicly available has helped academics, has helped folks in the community, it’s helped law enforcement. It just helps us better understand the issue.” 2/
A great primer on what’s at stake with question 9 on the MA ballot, which asks voters whether they want to keep our 2024 gun safety law or repeal it.
Vote YES on 9 to keep this law in place, and check out my remarks below on why we should do so! 1/ www.boston.com/news/politic...
A master class on how abusers blame their victims…
In the span of 4 days… Here in MA a man shoots and kills his mother after an argument. In Erie, PA a man shoots and kills eight people including a pregnant woman, children and other relatives before killing himself. In Georgia a man shoots and kills four members of his family and then himself. 1/
Vote YES on 9 and keep our gun safety laws strong in Massachusetts!
Exactly this
I Love XTC
Gun violence is preventable. Domestic violence is too. We just need the collective will to prevent it. Strengthen gun safety laws. Invest in programs that support survivors and prioritize prevention. And believe survivors. Believe survivors. 4/4
