Wind and solar helped the UK avoid US$7.8 BILLION in gas imports during the Hormuz crisis. That’s what breaking fossil fuel dependence looks like. Governments backing more oil and gas owe people an explanation. SCALE UP RENEWABLES.

#AfricanPenguinDay 🐧 We are losing our penguins

Industrial fishing is emptying our oceans of fish and destabilising ecosystems that have survived for thousands of years

This simply cannot go on

We need to stop these greedy industrial fishing companies plundering our waters šŸ‘‰ act.gp/42igFpk

This case sets a precedent for every activist, environmental group, and person holding power accountable.

It's bigger than Greenpeace. It's about everyone's right to speak truth to power.

Greenpeace entities have asked Judge James Gion for a new trial. If he denies it, we'll appeal. Either way, the facts don’t change: independent observers looked closely at this trial, and found it to be a miscarriage of justice.

Greenpeace International is fighting back with a lawsuit against ET in the Netherlands, where GPI is based and protections against legal abuse exist.

The attorneys found the litigation to be aĀ textbook SLAPP:Ā  šŸ‘‰ StrategicĀ  šŸ‘‰ LitigationĀ  šŸ‘‰ AgainstĀ  šŸ‘‰ Public Participation.Ā  Corporate bullies use expensive lawsuits to silence critics and activists.Ā  Most US states have anti-SLAPP laws. North Dakota does not.

Martin Garbus, a veteran free speech advocate who watched the trial said: "Probably the most unfair one I've ever witnessed in the US." He warned that if this stands, it could hurt activists, religious groups, political orgs, churches, charities, and anyone speaking on issues of public importance.

Lawyers observed the trial and found major red flags, continued: 🚩 The judge had improperly blocked Greenpeace entities from presenting their full defences through various decisions. 🚩 Before the trial started, pro-industry mailers went out to local residents, and ET mounted a PR campaign.

Lawyers observed the trial and found major red flags:
🚩 97% of potential jurors said they could not be fair or impartial in the case.  🚩 7 of the 9 seated jurors had direct ties to the oil & gas industry, and none were Indigenous or people of color.

The jury originally handed down a verdict over $660 million. A judge later reduced it to $345 million.

Who is Energy Transfer? They're one of the biggest players in American fossil energy, running roughly 140,000 miles of gas pipeline across 44 states. Founder Kelcy Warren is a major Trump donor and has made no secret of his desire to confront protesters head on.

šŸ”ŽBackground: After nearly 10 years of back-to-back SLAPP lawsuits from Big Oil company Energy Transfer, the company got a $345M judgment against Greenpeace entities for supporting the Indigenous-led protests at Standing Rock.

A few hundred meters from the pristine riverbanks in Croatia, a megafarm is being built: ⁣ ⁣ 🚨 1.8 MILLION chickens per year⁣ 🚨 Over 1 MILLION litres of toxic wastewater annually⁣ Billionaire Ag executives are expecting communities to suffer in silence while they extract profit.⁣ ⁣ ⁣#PeoplePower ✊

A bold graphic claims that the ā€œChicken Kingā€ wants to build an industrial megafarm next to Croatia’s largest drinking water source. It features a smiling man holding packaged chicken in a supermarket, with text stating that 1.8 million chickens are slaughtered annually and that residents are organising against industrial farms.A graphic shows a scenic, hazy landscape beside a body of water. Bold white and yellow text criticises wealthy corporations and billionaire executives for transforming beautiful places into industrial zones while ignoring local residents. Yellow-highlighted text claims the proposed project would produce 1,000,000 litres of toxic wastewater annually near a UNESCO-protected reserve and Croatia’s largest drinking water source.

Same oil & gas... but for a much bigger bill. EU countries have paid over US$113.5 BILLION EXTRA for energy imports since the war on Iran began. Governments MUST protect people and speed up homegrown wind and solar.
