@danshafer.bsky.socialNEW: I talked to Trevor Jung, the Democratic candidate running in the toss-up 21st District in the State Senate.
On his path to politics, big picture thinking for the region, what voters are saying, and more.

@danshafer.bsky.socialWisconsin faces a fork-in-the-road election in the state legislature. Should we continue on the path of Republican control we've been on for 16 years, or is it time for something different? www.therecombobulationarea.com/p/wisconsins...
@danshafer.bsky.socialNEWS: David Crowley and Sarah Godlewski announced the "Let's Get To Work, Wisconsin!" bus tour. This will be a 10-day, 40-city tour that begins Oct. 24 with a rally in Milwaukee. Full release:
@danshafer.bsky.socialNEW: In an hour-long conversation with Derek Mosley at Marquette Law School, David Crowley talked about his childhood in Milwaukee, his path to politics, his record as County Executive, priorities as governor, where he stands on the issues, and more.

@danshafer.bsky.socialCROWLEY: “This is a brand new low for them to be going after my wife."
I spoke with the Milwaukee County Executive, who responded today to stories from right-wing media and criticism from the Tiffany campaign involving his wife's employer. www.therecombobulationarea.com/p/crowley-th...
@danshafer.bsky.socialOf these, Franklin's seat seems like the most likely flip. He's in his first term and only won by 220 total votes in 2024 (though his name being Ben Franklin probably gives him more name ID than your typical one-term incumbent).
@danshafer.bsky.socialThose 5 incumbents are:
- Shannon Zimmerman (30th)
- Todd Novak (51st)
- Bob Donovan (61st)
- Patrick Snyder (85th)
- Ben Franklin (88th)

@danshafer.bsky.socialIf Democrats are going to win a trifecta in Wisconsin this year, the bigger challenge is the Assembly. Incumbency often matters even more downballot, and Assembly Republicans frequently out-run the top of the ticket in Wisconsin. Dems will have to unseat at least 3 of 5 incumbents to win.

@danshafer.bsky.socialCould Mark Becker become the first independent candidate elected to the Wisconsin State Legislature in nearly 100 years?
I sure hope so. See my recent podcast with Mark, who is running in SD1: www.therecombobulationarea.com/p/endorsemen...
@danshafer.bsky.socialNEW PODCAST: I talked to Scot Ross about Tom Tiffany not paying any taxes for years, about the "Dodgers of politics" funding Tiffany's campaign, and why it's time for Democrats to go on the attack in these final weeks.

@danshafer.bsky.socialNEW from @angelalang8.bsky.social: 'Don’t fall for the sneaky language: Why you should vote NO on Question 3'
The intentionally confusing language makes it seem like it’s anti-discrimination, but the devil is in the details.

@danshafer.bsky.socialThe same morons who thought they could replace federal income taxes with tariffs now think they can somehow eliminate the state income tax and replace it with ... what, exactly?

@danshafer.bsky.socialThey just really don't have much to go at Crowley for. He's been a successful County Executive. When they've repeatedly made "escalator becomes stairs, sorry for the convenience" a regular hit, you know they're reaching.
