We were sorting some items in our kitchen junk drawer. We had boxes labeled “bread tie longs” (twist ties) and “bread tie shorts” (those little plastic colored squares with day of week on them). Asked a friend for a bread tie long once and was looked at like I had 3 heads.
This was a tweet from Michael Hobbes a while back and I’ve seen nothing to contradict it yet: “I think we'll look back on the last decade as a time when social media gave previously marginalized groups the ability to speak directly to elites and, as a result, elites lost their minds.”
But he will now use this “statistic” in every speech after this. Similar to his misunderstanding “asylum” with regards to immigrants.

One of the fun parts of working on the AP Stylebook team is that when The New York Times runs an article about @merriam-webster.com's definition of biweekly and bimonthly, we can message dictionary editor Peter Sokolowski about it.
NEW @ LAW DORK: Federal judge orders two-week stop to Trump admin tree-cutting effort at D.C. golf course. Judge Reyes issued the order on Tuesday after the Trump administration cut down more than 500 trees over the weekend with little notice.
I am scared of Vance taking over, but if we take the house it would probably be Jeffries instead of Johnson for 3rd in line. Although it might be better to impeach/remove his cabinet. Hegseth is tops on my list.
This is the Social Security Election. Senators who get elected this fall will decide the future of Social Security. REMINDER: Top Republicans are calling Social Security a “Ponzi scheme” and a “scam.”
Apparently it is "International Sceptics Day". Or so they say. Allegedly. Anyway, make every day sceptics day. Question everything.

You know, the thing is, I had drafted this piece a month ago, and then never published it, because I thought maybe it was too mean.
