Watched Boorman's Hope and Glory and Ian Bannen is in it.
Sometimes I miss character actors more acutely than stars. They represent eras. You grow up with them.
I saw Bannen in 18 movies and numerous TV episodes.

My uncle has been married 52 years. I asked him how he kept his marriage happy all these years. He said, "We go dancing twice a week. I go on Tuesday and you're aunt goes on Wednesday."
Bannen also reminds me of a friend of my dad's.
Jfc nothing says wrong side of history quite like trying to sanction the International Criminal Court

"Macaroni and cheese will now be called cheezy noodlez, and French Toast is now American Toast! Anyone who does not comply is the ENEMY!"
Today for the feast day of St. Denis, I recommend Michael Downs' story "Dark Agnes: The Head of St. Denis", art by Piotr Kawalski, found in The Savage Sword of Conan, Issue 6 (2024). #SwordandSorcery
It would have been a change of pace for Peckinpah. Would have been interesting.
I would have done whatever she liked. She's cute.
When I was a teenager, for some reason, "Would you make out with Linda Blair?" was some kind of check. This was when she was a teen too, 16 to 19. It was stupid (but we were teens).
Any (straight) teenage guy who said no, we said 'you goddam liar'.
Richard Burton is kind of the UK's Kirk Douglas.
Over-dramatic. Never at rest on screen. Not 'natural'.
And by 77 we had Burnstyn in Alice Doesn't Live Here, Scheider in Jaws, Hoffman in Marathon Man, Stallone in Rocky. A different, less dominating acting.

He got good acting out of kids. Essential to Something Wicked This Way Comes.
Ah, but Wise is a director with a better budget in '68 than in '43. He's done Sound of Music and West Side Story, The Sand Pebbles.
Henry Fonda as Charles Holloway, the older, midwestern dad, and librarian. Max Von Sydow as Mr. Dark.
Peckinpah directing Something Wicked This Way Comes? Maybe. The core of the story is the father and the two boys, and their good natures overcoming evil. 1968? I would have wanted Robert Wise-- who directed The Haunting and the Sound of Music.
Giamatti's terrific. A a real lover of genre fiction.
I'm serious. I don't think doing that stuff is fun. They have to be 'on'-- all weekend.
Deleted? Really? Garth Marenghi makes all Hellraiser posts better.
