Just finished @freyamarske.bsky.social's Bodies of Magic, which may be her best yet. (Given her previous books, that's saying a lot.)

The first couple of chapters had me wondering if I'd be able to keep track of the characters. Instead I became so invested in them all I couldn't put it down.

Fantastic! Beautifully plotted. Characters that I was rooting for so hard. A fantasy world that was not confusing despite it being so different and having so many invented words. Writing that had me inhabiting the world. I devoured this and adored it. I can't wait to read it again.

Boy, this was good! Terrific coming-of-age story/murder mystery with world building that I really, really liked. An academy at peak exam time featuring five students who all have their own compelling stories that are slowly revealed over the course of the novel. #booksky #fantasy #reading

“Bodies of Magic,” the new @freyamarske.bsky.social Freya Marske #book is Magical Medical School Murder Mystery Friend Group with a Little Queer Longing as a Treat. It’s got lots of competence, snark, and puzzles. Plus some anti-capitalism and pro-unionism. I will definitely read it again soon.
