(0:25) And of course this was before "The Simpsons" actually began using those "Castle Thunder" sound effects shortly after Matt Selman became the main showrunner and started taking the show in a more experimental direction.

Of course, that very same witch is in the GIF I posted, to the right of Paul Lynde!

Maggie with James Earl Jones's voice is indeed in a disturbing universe!

This scene was what made me figure the "Simpsons" character who'd come out as gay in Season 16 would be Patty. ("There's Something About Marrying.")

I love Lisa's nonchalant exit upon seeing the rest of her family being killed.

If you see this, post a Witch.

I love how smooth the animation of the kids screaming at 0:06 is.

Aaawoooooooo, I'm Wolfman Zak!

I love Miss Finster's heartfelt speech about how you can never be too old for Halloween, as her werewolf costume demonstrates.

And this was less than a year before Regis Philbin hosted the American "Who Wants To Be a Millionaire," no less!

‪Well, Homer got his wish. He just got a mundane surprise!‬

‪The first time they did a Kang and Kodos intro, and this was one of the better ones (compared to how for a while they’d just have Kang and Kodos introduce every THOH special).‬

The instant before Ed starts his overly long scream that lasts until he’s home in bed!

I remember the original premiere airing with splitscreen credits, the Gracie Films logo had the standard "shh" and music, possibly a programming mistake. It was fixed with this Regis Philbin variant for the second airing.

He even had the scratchy youthful inflection in Little Bear's voice down pat! (OK, I swapped out the audio here, but it fits disturbingly well.)

Maurice Sendak's Little Bear on "Fuller House!"

Wonder if Kang and Kodos's cameo for "Treehouse of Horror III" was conceived later in the production run, given the recycled animation from the previous year's special?
