pretty much every kid over about 12 these days knows about social media clout farming - and that's basically what poppyshagging is. Clout farming, with the goal of pushing their other content. So there's ALSO a lesson there about watching for clout farmers in your regular online life.

Finally, it's easy to show how it's used for "like farming" - poppyshaggers will do it to get people to like, follow or share, but then use the same account for far right content or whatever. And then claim lots of people must agree with them on THAT, because of high follower count.

easy enough, for example to find poppyshaggers using it as a "Britishness test" in facebook comments. But then also show the incredible level of commitment from, say, Indian troops to the war.

Perfect example being facebook pages doing poppyshagging, then leaning into far-right ideas, and othering over who is British and who isn't. big lesson there for kids in terms of radicalisation, and not going along with people just because the FIRST time you chatted to them they seemed cool/sane
