The legislature needs to intervene. It’s ridiculous that these appeals can cause these delays.
Yeah agreed
That makes sense but I think if the problem is "I want cars to go slower", I figure that would lead to wanting speed humps everywhere, not necessarily circulation plans and home zones
I think the better argument is that it's better for driving! All these European cities have less traffic because they're better at managing it
Lots of wonky traffic engineering in Europe is showing that circulation plans like this can improve traffic. It reduces driving by making it less convenient but it also simplifies the roads which improves flow by ex: ban an unprotected left and force the turn a block later with a dedicated lane
We have a map for that!
Washington Legislature, if you see this, PLEASE SAVE US!
No, afaik the sound is way too deep for a tunnel
Yea the district is not the entire counties. Pierce Transit pays for the 595 portions in Gig Harbor and Intercity Transit used to pay for express ST bus service. But those agencies don’t have the taxing authority needed to do big projects like Light Rail
The bridge is definitely the hardest part. The sound is way too deep for supports so I think it would either have to be either the longest suspension bridge in the world or the first floating tunnel ever constructed
It is unfortunate that there isn’t a process for other counties to “partially” join Sound Transit
Sound Transit 10 anyone?
It’s national coming out day and I’m still gay. Shout out to my LGBTQ followers, fruity straight guys, butch straight women with asymmetrical haircuts, people who are really into public transit, and everyone who likes disco music.
Just posting the map not expressing a stance
Also if you like maps that show more bus service, volunteer to pass the next Seattle Transit Measure so we can get bus service back to (and beyond!) 2019 levels!
This is also me announcing that I updated nrsattele.github.io/seattle-freq...
Didn't realize with the Fall Service Change that the 372 -> 72 route change gave NE Seattle 10-min bus service again! 6% more of Seattle now is walking distance to every-10-min service or better!! Thanks, Seattle Transit Measure (vote yes in Nov!)
“The modules sit right on top of the ground so the one I rode went in with no digging in just two and a half days”
@ryancalkins.bsky.social @portofseattle.bsky.social can we get this between the light rail and airport??
We really need more local journalists
If it’s a RapidRide, the county would fund way more service than they do now and STM money would either keep overlaying on that (thus making the R more frequent) or be reallocated to other 15-min-or-worse routes
