The GOP has been a dead party walking since 2016, with its internal infrastructure decaying while Trump's domination of national politics has papered over much of the rot. But now, Trump's popularity is starting to really run out, and there's nothing left to cover what the GOP has become.

Beyond this, there's a certain kind of American man who feels he can assert masculine control/demand gratitude from an immigrant spouse because he's doing her a favor by accepting her, and he stands for America broadly in ensuring she Knows Her Place & will be deferential to him.

I was born in the mid 80s and my parents were never really into Disney, so I missed a whole lot of even 90s movies. Very few I have seen from before the 90s.
