Not really surprised.
Luxury amenities for some inmates - Indonesian authorities destroy "villas" inside prison (German only)
Our ferry back to Bali is finally leaving port after > 1 hour delay. Looks like woman went into labour and delivered a baby. Hopefully mother and child well. Statistically roadside babies are probably not a total surprise in a country with a 2.1 birth rate and a child born every seven seconds.
Sun’s still rising in the east. Everything can’t be so bad.
Good morning from Banyuwangi, East Java. Looking over to Bali, waiting for the sun to rise.

Selamat pagi dari Kawah Ijen, Java Timur.
Different day, different volcano: Gunung Raung (left) and Merapi (right). We’re taking the ferry to Java to go see the famous blue flames of Kawah Ijen tonight.

As Borneo's forests disappear, its orangutans are being pushed to the brink
Forest at the bottom. Plain, wind-swept rock on the peak of Mt. Agung. You hike up at night and only see how narrow and dangerous your trail was when you descend in the morning. If you fall you simply disappear into a deep gorge and turn into fodder for the monkeys. Cycle of life ;)
I’ve been to Mt. Batur (5600 ft) and Agung (9944 ft) plus a few even higher volcanoes few years ago. Getting too old, lazy and wise to do it again :)
Gunung Batur, Abang, Agung (left to right) at sunrise. Lazy picture taken from the villa terrace - no hiking involved :)
