No, because it happens randomly every 10-20 pages.
Not enshittification per se, but just shittification. Everything is slowly worsening.
I don't know how the publishing industry works anymore, but this is a Penguin book which I purchased in a brick-and-mortar bookstore, not a self-published book I ordered off of Amazon. Very strange....
Blood Test Screens for Cancer. Should You Vote for It? [Sum: NO] www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/... by @jonathanjarry.bsky.social
👎 A clinical trial found Galleri test failed to find cancers at an earlier stage.
⚠️ KEY: Even if it detected as promised, "we have no idea if it indeed saves lives."
Ok, Brian. Now, the men in scrubs are your friends, OK, and they’re going to take you back to your room.
There's an argument to be made that this could be a deliberate way of highlighting changes from the original edition to this one. But I have seen zero mention of this in the introductory material, so this appears to be a recurring formatting mishap.
This is a Penguin imprint! How can they mess this up like this??
Book publishers: I’m reading the Vintage Books 2026 edition of Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, and every dozen pages or so, the font changes for no apparent reason before changing back. It’s subtle but clearly visible and distracting. How does something like this happen?
TV in the 21st century: "So, that new show CUPERTINO is on Paramount+ in the U.S., yes, but not in Canada, haha! That's because CBS airs it and Paramount+ has the streaming rights; but in Canada, *Global* airs it, and it's their platform, StackTV, that streams it. Obviously. "Silly goose."
Galleri is a great case study in how numbers can be marshalled in either direction. Do you want the kit to look effective? We have numbers to back that up. Do you want it to look like it doesn't? We have those numbers too.
So... would you vote for it?
However, we don't know if it saves lives yet. It failed to meet its primary endpoint... but the data we do have is encouraging. Sort of? I don't know how I would have voted, but one of the members of the FDA panel who looked at the evidence changed his vote. Twice.
It's the first multi-cancer early screening test to be subjected to the rigours of a randomized controlled clinical trial. We should celebrate this. This is the exact opposite of Theranos. And this trial was run through the NHS, the United Kingdom's public healthcare system.
A new blood test looks at 50 different cancers in one go.
Should it be approved?
More cancer screening is a good thing... right?
Get ready to experience the confusion that is Galleri.

Whoever hired the guy for their Car Gurus ad needs to tell him that nobody pronounces it "Guh-rooz."
"Not the Onion" *was* "The Onion" six months ago. Who knew the real psychics were the satirists?
If this is Tim Pool's new studio, it's giving "Oprah but on a budget." From man cave to man womb, I guess. The beanie stays on even in utero.
Fake university UATX wants its students to know that Nazis were actually socialists. I mean, it's in the name, right? Keep on UATXing, UATX.
Haha, NOT Theranos!
